Who is our founder?

Our Mission

At Rise Basketball School, our mission is to develop confident, skilled, and disciplined athletes through intentional training, mentorship, and competition. We create a growth-centered environment where players learn to master the fundamentals, embrace the grind, and carry championship habits both on and off the court.

Our Vision

To redefine youth basketball development by becoming the leading data-driven basketball academy in New Mexico; empowering players of all levels to unlock their full potential and preparing them to excel in the game, in the classroom, and in life. We aim to build a legacy facility and community that inspires the next generation to rise higher every season.

Meet the RISE Team

    Jules Montgomery

    Founder and Head Coach of RISE Basketball School, Jules Montgomery is a lifelong student of the game who brings professional experience, leadership, and vision to every player he mentors. Originally from California, Jules played Division I college basketball before continuing his career overseas in countries such as Malta, China, and Mexico. After years of competing at a high level, he returned to the states with a mission to build a development system that helps young athletes grow both on and off the court.

    Josh Holmes

    A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Josh Holmes brings professional playing experience and a deep passion for player development to RISE. A standout from Volcano Vista High School, he went on to play for the NM Bullsnakes and NM Bluetails before competing internationally in Mexico’s top tournament circuits. Known for his efficient scoring, defensive intensity, and leadership, Josh now focuses on mentoring young athletes and helping them grow both on and off the court.

    Seth Warfield

    Born and raised in Albuquerque, NM, Seth Warfield is a 6'3" point guard known for his high basketball IQ and leadership. After an accomplished career at Volcano Vista High School, he played collegiately at Cabrillo College, New Mexico Highlands University, and Northern New Mexico College before going pro with the NM Bluetails and NM Bullsnakes. Seth combines his playing experience with a strong commitment to teaching, using his understanding of the game to guide RISE athletes in skill development, teamwork, and discipline.

    Cole Baca

    A former RISE player turned RISE coach, Cole Baca brings firsthand experience and a deep understanding of the program’s culture. A standout athlete at Cibola High School, he was recognized as Male Athlete of the Year for his performance, leadership, and dedication on and off the court. Cole went on to play collegiate basketball at the University of the Southwest, where he continued to refine his skills and basketball IQ. Now, as a coach, he channels his competitive spirit and love for the game into developing young athletes, helping them grow as both players and people within the RISE system.

    Zyann Beard

    A former RISE player turned RISE coach, Zyann Beard embodies the growth and commitment that define the program. A proud graduate of Volcano Vista High School, she was known for her competitiveness, leadership, and pure shooting touch on the court. Zyann now continues her journey both academically and professionally as a Business major at the University of New Mexico, while giving back to the next generation of athletes through coaching at RISE. Her firsthand experience as a player and her passion for mentorship make her a relatable and inspiring presence for young hoopers developing their game.

    Kelcey Thomas

    Kelcey Thomas has been part of the RISE family for several years, bringing the perspective of a former athlete who’s passionate about giving back to the next generation. With a strong background in basketball and a deep love for the game, Kelcey focuses on teaching fundamentals, effort, and teamwork. Known for her positive energy and commitment to growth, she helps young players build confidence on and off the court, continuing to embody the RISE values of development, leadership, and community.

    Elijah Stamper

    Elijah Stamper brings a dedicated focus on storytelling and video production to RISE Basketball School, blending creative media skills with a deep love for basketball culture. As Director of Media & Content, he oversees all visual output—from practice recaps and highlight reels to our podcast and social platforms—ensuring that everything aligns with RISE’s mission of player growth, basketball excellence and mindset development. With a professional-grade approach to content creation and a passion for youth sports, Elijah helps elevate our brand and tell the authentic stories of our athletes, coaches and community.

    Angela Guevarra

    Based in Alaska, Angela Guevarra serves as the Sales and Community Manager for RISE Basketball School. Working virtually, she helps connect families and athletes with the right programs, manages parent communication, and supports enrollment growth across all RISE offerings. With a strong background in relationship building and customer service, Angela plays a key role in ensuring every family feels welcomed, informed, and supported. Her dedication to community connection and her professionalism make her an essential part of the RISE team, helping the program grow while maintaining its family-focused culture.
